I’ve made my first attempts at shirring. It was so much fun. I am now disappointed that I waited so long to give it a go. I’m like that – put off trying something for a long time because I can get so freaked out about not being able to do it – and then when I finally give it a go there is a little regret that it took me so long to have a go. Mostly though there is that real thrill, that awesome sense of accomplishment and self-satisfaction to have learnt something new.
Do you like to learn new things too? What have you recently conquered? … I’d love to know.
I was exactly the same with shirring - I put it off for so long but then found out it wasnt scary at all. Hapy shirring.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried shirring, but it's on my list!
ReplyDeleteI was completely scared by zippers, but now I've sewn quite a few, I think I'm cured.
yes I like to learn new things. Very frustrating when I can't do it, as I have found with the Dottie Angel blanket. Oh well, I have the basics of it, but her joining technique, nope, not going to happen. But I gave it a good hot go at trying to learn it...
ReplyDeleteMostly though I have success when trying new things & it is very satisfying! Your shirring looks great! Well done to you!
Well done! Glad you got it straight away after the beginning frustration of the birdie :) Crochet pattern reading is my latest new achievement that left a sense of pride and satisfaction. Of course I am an *expert* now...
ReplyDeletei am so like that sal, put something off ( like winding elastic thread in my bobbin so i can sew my summer dress i cut out last summer)....
ReplyDeletedid you know that you cannot put a hold on a library book when you currently have it checked out already/? cheeky computers...
Yay for you! I tend to put things off if they scare me too, until I'm forced to have a go. Your shirring looks excellent, what are you making?
ReplyDeleteYou are shirring the exact same fabric I used to line my Panel Bag last week: http://thecraftgypsy.blogspot.com/2010/07/completed-panel-bag.html
I *think* I bought it from SL, but I'm not sure!!!
Ok thats it, i'm giving this a go. i love how shirring looks and it really does make clothes more comfy i think. i've been putting off giving this a try too. now i'm in.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to giving shirring a go. Love yours.
ReplyDeleteShirring looks like it would be fun. Good on you for giving it a go. Happy sewing.

Good on you! The shirring looks great Sally. I would love to give that a try but I'm not sure where to buy that thin elastic so I haven't given it a go. I love to try new things too even though it's a little scary at first. Enjoy more shirring:) xo
ReplyDeleteHey Sal did you hand wind the elastic? I'm busting to try it but my list of to do's a miles long - summer time will give it a go?
ReplyDeleteLove the wand work too. XOXO
Shirring is on my list of fears to conquer- any hot tips??
ReplyDeleteby the way I love that Mr 3 is sending a wand to his grandma! so cute!!
I desperately want to try shirring, but the thought of it scares the living daylight out of me LOL. I am going to write a list of 'must do's' now and see if I can work my way through them :)
